iPad 用電子書籍 iBooks では Project Gutenberg で ePub フォーマット化したものを読むことができる。4月段階の発表では約3万冊と発表していた。
iPad にダウンロードした iBooks アプリで iBooks Store で検索すると，社会科学関係書籍がいくつかヒットする。Project Gutenberg が現在進行中のプロジェクトであり，iBooks 対応書もさらに増えるだろう。いくつか漏れがあるかもしれないが，現時点で iPad で以下を読むことができる。ヘーゲルのドイツ語以外はすべて英語である。
17世紀の奇書サミュエル・ピープスの日記も数巻に分けて置いてあった。
PCでは自由に利用することができた Project Gutenberg のファイルが iPad というさらに身近な機器で参照できるのは，今までにない利用可能性を示唆している。これらファイルももちろんダウンロードした。
